Qualifying Criteria

Your contribution to explosives engineering is recognised outside your own organisation.

If you have been working as a senior professional in the explosive industry for a minimum of 7 years, hold a position of responsibility, have completed explosives-related qualifications, and can demonstrate important achievements in relevant areas of explosives engineering over a sustained period, you are able to submit an application to become a Fellow of IExpE.

Applications are assessed by considering qualifications, work experience, current role, and length of time within the industry. IExpE recognise that each application is unique and will review the documents you provide against the criteria. Failure to provide all information at the time of submission will result in delays when processing your application.

Fellow membership is available to civilian and military personnel and is available as an upgrade application or direct entry.

Upon approval of your application, you will be a voting member of IExpE with the postnominals FIExpE.

Eligibility:

• You have held a senior position within the explosives industry for a minimum of 7 years.
• You must meet one of the criteria below and evidence this within a personal statement.

1. Recognised by others, in their own specialist field, as a leading authority by having planned, negotiated, organised and supervised work of a sufficiently complex nature and responsibility.
2. Recognised by scientific and academic bodies as a research leader or technical innovator in their chosen field.
3. A regular, authoritative contributor to scientific or technical papers on explosives related sciences, engineering or related topics.
4. Known to have contributed greatly to the improvement in safety practices and standards within the explosives industry.

What you will need to provide:

• Application form.
• A full and up-to-date CV.
• Certificates in support of qualifications and training referred to within your application.
• Personal statement providing evidence of how you meet one of the above criteria (minimum 500 words).
• A recent photograph.
• Photographic identification, such as a copy of your driving licence or passport.
• Application fee.

Referees:

When considering your referees you should refer to the guidance for referees to ensure that those nominated have sufficient knowledge of your background, work experience and qualifications to fulfil our reference criteria.

Details of two referees who can support your application and confirm the information you have provided are required. References from referees from the same company or organisation will not be accepted, at least one must be independent. References must be a minimum of 500 words.
