Membership – Member
To make an application to become an IExpE Member requires the submission of the completed application form together with all documents in support. You can monitor the progress of your application via your account on the IExpE website
Qualifying Criteria
Prior to submitting an application to become an IExpE Member, please ensure you satisfy one of the following minimum educational and experience requirements in an area of explosives occupational competence:
Passed adequate academic and/or professional qualifications, and either been trained and become qualified for, and shall have held for at least three years, a responsible post engaged in explosives engineering or equivalent technical explosives management duties
Been trained and become qualified as Ammunition Technical Officers or Ammunition Technicians Class I in the Army, or their equivalents in the British or appropriate foreign Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force), and to have served for at least 2 years in an ammunition technical appointment
If approved as a member of IExpE you will have the status of a Voting Full Member with postnominals, Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers (MIExpE).
If you satisfy the requirements for the grade of Member but not accrued the necessary experience, you should submit an application for Technical Member.
When submitting your application please be aware of the Institute’s policy in relation to criminal convictions and insolvency. If you have at the time of entering the Institute, or subsequently acquire, any relevant conviction or become subject to any order of Insolvency you need to declare them.
The Institute has been approved by the Board of the Inland Revenue, under Section 201, Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 for members whose Tax affairs are dealt with in the UK to obtain Income Tax Relief on their Subscriptions.
