Description
What you’ll be doing:
- Continuously assessing the areas safety risk and if in any doubt stop the process
- Managing and developing the team’s performance using development plans and 1-2-1 reviews where required
- Ensuring that all team members are trained against business mandatory requirements
- Making certain all operations are carried out in accordance with the Process SOPs
- Taking responsibility for the team’s personal safety in the preparation, firing and post-firing elements of the disposal process
- Assuming responsibility for ensuring the area is safe for the preparation of materials for disposal, for firing, and determining when the area is safe to re-enter for cleaning activities
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience with supervisory and team coordination skills
- Awareness of working in health and safety and or adhering to health and safety working in a highly regulated environment
Desirable:
- Completion of a recognised Firing Officers Course for example City & Guilds in Explosives Foundation or equivalent.
- Experience of handling energetic materials

The Energetic Material Disposal Area (EMDA) team:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Firing Officer, for which we will give you the chance to complete an intensive two-weeklong EOD Level One course. You’ll report directly to the Site Senior Firing Officer and lead a small team of operators and play a pivotal role in the disposal routine, handling and disposing of energetic materials through various methods. This role promises not only excitement and challenge but also a significant contribution to safety and innovation.
