Description

Frazer-Nash Consultancy is seeking an experienced former Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO) to provide consultancy services in the safe and compliant management of dangerous goods logistics.

The consultant will provide expertise in the following key areas, although this list is not exhaustive:

  1. Safe Handling and Transport of Hazardous Materials

Advising on safe transport, packaging, labelling, and documentation for hazardous materials, in compliance with the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, and International Air Transport Association (IATA) regulations.

  1. Risk Management and Safety Procedures

Supporting the development of risk assessments and safety measures for the storage and movement of dangerous goods, in line with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines and relevant safety regulations.

  1. Regulatory Compliance and Documentation

Ensuring compliance with UK and international regulations, including ADR, IMDG, and IATA, and supporting the procurement of necessary permits and approvals.

  1. Optimisation of Logistics and Supply Chain

Providing advice on cost-effective and safe transport options, ensuring compliance with International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 28000 and ISO 9001 standards for supply chain management.

  1. Emergency Response Planning

Assisting in the development of emergency response plans and advising on incident response team formation, following best practices and UK legislation.

  1. Explosive and Chemical Safety

Offering guidance on the safe storage and transportation of explosives and hazardous substances, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and NATO Standardisation Agreements (STANAGs).

  1. Training for Logistics Personnel

Delivering training on regulatory compliance, safety protocols, and emergency procedures, in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act and Dangerous Goods Safety Management Regulations.

  1. Audit and Inspection for Compliance

Conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, advising on improvements as necessary.

The individual should have expert knowledge of UK and international standards, including ADR, IMDG, IATA, ISO 28000, ISO 9001, and be able to provide practical guidance to ensure safe and efficient logistics operations.
