Job title: Product Engineer (Charge)

Salary: Up to £40,049

What you’ll be doing:

  • Designing, developing, testing, and evaluating activities of new and legacy propelling charges
  • Conducting and managing trials in a safe and suitable manner, from trials planning stage to completion of the trial and presentation of the data
  • Developing and using safe systems of working for engineering tasks
  • Interfacing with suppliers, both internal and external, and ensuring that development activities are completed to time and schedule
  • Supporting senior design engineers for maintenance of design review records
  • Contributing to the risk management process and understanding and using Land UK quality systems

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in the Chemical/Chemical Engineering Industry
  • Experience of hazard identification, risk assessment and mitigation in support of trial or test activities.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the planning and conducting of evaluation trials
  • A working knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering design A working knowledge of the chemistry of propellants and their ingredients

The Charge Design team:

As a Design Engineer you will be operating as part of a multi-disciplined propelling charge development team that is involved in the development, design, and manufacture of charges for several new munitions products and maintaining the performance of legacy products.

At Glascoed there are exciting new manufacturing and development projects being invested in which involve the growth of new systems, this role could be your chance to get involved in these. Being part of this team also gives you the opportunity to travel to testing sites regularly, so you get to see the charges in action.
