HSE has opened a consultation on proposed changes to cost recovery
HSE has opened a consultation on proposed changes to cost recovery which may be of relevance to your members because it proposes changes to The Health and Safety and Nuclear (Fees) Regulations 2022 (legislation.gov.uk) as they relate to explosives. The consultation includes proposals to simplify the cost recovery structure in the Explosives Regulations 2014. It has been eight years since the introduction of these regulations and the associated fee structure which replaced the previous cost recovery arrangements. The proposal follows a review by both HSE and the other licensing authorities (Police and Local Authorities) and will ensure the full cost of the activities are recovered in a fair and proportionate manner and extend explosives cost recovery.
You can find the consultation at Consultation on proposed changes to Cost Recovery – Health and Safety Executive – Citizen Space (hse.gov.uk) along with instructions on how you can make a response.
