Course Description

The course is designed to cover all aspects that are essential for armourers involved in weapons maintenance, to help them run an efficient armoury, including health & safety, armourers responsibility, weapon systems (methods of operation), internal ballistics, external ballistics, stripping and assembly (generic), inspection & gauging (generic), methods of cleaning, testing for functioning and accuracy, sighting systems, working to manufacturer’s instructions, ammunition, quality control, quality assurance, calibration, record keeping, the Gun Barrel Proof Acts (basic), Firearms Law (basic).

Suggested Attendees

Students on this course are expected to have a basic knowledge of safe firearms handling.

The course is also available to serving police and military personnel and forensic practitioners who have the authority to handle section 5 weaponry only.

Students attending this course require a section 5 authority to handle prohibited weapons.
