What you’ll be doing:
- Undertaking chemical testing within the requirements of good laboratory practice
- Following prescribed analytical test methods in support of Quality Control / Quality Assurance requirements for manufacturing, and analytical / chemical testing for development project work
- Working within the Safe Systems of Work process within the Laboratory and Factory
- Assisting in the development of analytical procedures/methods to maintain and improve laboratory capability for accuracy and precision, and other continuous improvement activities
- Maintaining instruments / calibration activities to ensure maintained capability
- Liaising with customers and the Laboratory Manager
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- BSc/MSc Chemistry or related subject
- Previous experience in analytical chemistry is preferred;
- Basic knowledge of Laboratory Health and Safety requirements
Desirable:
- Versed in either HPLC or UPLC techniques
- Experience in analysis methods such as DSC, TGA, DMA or ICP
- Exposure to UV-Vis Spectrophotometer and/or FT-IR Spectrophotometer

The QC Laboratory team:
This is a small but growing team, in which you will report directly into the Laboratory Manager. Your work will involve testing energetic materials to support on various exciting projects. You will get the chance to use a variety of chemical and physical analysis methods, including wet chemistry and instrumented techniques. Within this team you would work directly with the onsite customers and the wider engineering team within BAE Systems Land UK. BAE Systems will also support you in your development with onsite training and there will be the opportunity for you to grow and develop your career through this role.
