Following the call for nominations to the IExpE Board, candidates have been nominated, and it is now time for members to cast their votes.

Members are entitled to vote in this election if on the date of the close of poll members are a paid-up member of IExpE for the year commencing 2025.
ELECTION STATEMENTS
CANDIDATE: Jamillah Robinson-Heather
I believe that my personal objectives match the IExpE goals in fostering communications across the industry. I hope that my communication style and outlook align well with the direction the institute is working towards and I can help support it’s modernisation of communication, engagement and support to the explosives industry.
CANDIDATE: Richard Neale
I am writing to formally express my interest in serving as a board member of the Institute of Explosive Engineers. Having dedicated over 20 years to the explosives trade and being an active and committed member of the Institute, I believe I possess the experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm required to contribute meaningfully to the governance and strategic development of our profession.
Professional Experience
My career in the explosives field spans more than two decades, during which I honed my expertise in explosive safety, ordnance management, and technical operations. As a late-entry officer in the British Army with 28 years of service, I specialised in the ammunition technical trade, managing complex logistical, operational, and safety challenges across various environments. My responsibilities encompassed leading multidisciplinary teams, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with rigorous safety protocols, all of which demanded a meticulous and proactive approach to problem-solving.
Commitment to the Institute
As an active member of the Institute of Explosive Engineers, I have consistently sought to contribute to its objectives and support its mission to advance professional knowledge and standards within our field. Through networking, participation in events, and ongoing professional development, I have remained deeply engaged with the Institute’s activities and the broader explosives community.
Vision for the Role
If elected to the board, I am committed to:
- Advocating for the continued professional development of members by enhancing access to training and educational opportunities.
- Strengthening collaboration between military, government, and civilian sectors to share best practices and promote innovation in the explosives field.
- Expanding outreach efforts to attract new talent to our industry, ensuring the Institute remains vibrant and future-focused.
- Upholding the highest standards of safety and technical excellence, reinforcing the Institute’s reputation as a global leader in explosive engineering.
My extensive background, combined with my dedication to the Institute and its members, uniquely positions me to contribute to the board’s efforts. I am passionate about ensuring the continued growth and success of the Institute while upholding its values and commitment to excellence.
