The Department for Transport Dangerous Goods Team has released the reports issued following the above meetings. The matters relating to explosives can be found in part IV of the UN secretariat’s report. Pdf’s for the documents are attached. The major part of the explosives issues was referred to the Explosives Working Group, the results of which can be viewed by using the link – https://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/trans/doc/2019/dgac10c3/UN-SCETDG-55-INF55e.pdf
In relation to DfT debriefing meetings for the transport of dangerous goods, members are advised that these are to cease. The DfT has recently issued the following circulation explaining the position. We have not been advised the pre-meeting briefing meetings are affected –
“Dear Industry Colleague,
Please be informed that the Department for Transport will no longer be hosting stakeholder debrief meetings for international meetings. This includes cancellation of all debrief meetings which had previously been scheduled. This decision has been made after careful consideration by the Dangerous Goods Division, as we have reasoned that the content of the international meetings are adequately covered by the UK delegates report, the official UN report, and results matrix which we circulate following the meeting. It, therefore, makes most sense for the team to direct their resources to other work.
We are still very much open to your feedback on the outcomes of any of the issues raised in international meetings, which we encourage you to make either to our generic email address or by contacting a member of the team directly.
We are also developing specific points of contact within the division for various subject areas in DG and these will be communicated to you in due course.
For your information the cancelled debrief meetings are as follows (these will also be removed from our website):
• 10 October 2019: RID/ADR/ADN Joint Meeting debrief meeting
• 28 November 2019: WP.15 (107th) debrief meeting & RID committee of experts SWG debrief meeting
• 19 December 2019: UNSCOE TDG (56th) debrief meeting
If members have any comments on the outcome of the last meeting, please feel free to contact the DfT Dangerous Goods Team.
You can see the reports below.
