Associate Member

Qualifying Criteria

The status of Associate Member of IExpE may be granted to individuals, whether in military or civilian occupations, who work with explosives, but have not as yet had the extensive experience required to obtain full Member Status.

Prior to submitting an application for membership of IExpE, please ensure you satisfy the following minimum qualifying criteria:

  • You are at least 20 years old, and
  • been trained and become qualified to hold a responsible post as a skilled operative in such pursuits as explosives development, manufacture or use,

or

  • been trained and become qualified as a serviceman or related civilian whose duties involve the handling and use of military explosives and associated munitions but whose expertise does not yet equate to the standards laid down above for a Member of the Institute,

or

  • reached a responsible position and gained adequate experience.  You may be required attend an interview with members of the IExpE Council.

If your application is successful, you will be awarded status of Associate of the Institute of Explosives Engineers (AIExpE).

Application Fee – £70 / Annual Membership – £95 (UK) / £105 (Non-UK)

The Application Fee is payable at the time of sending in your application form and is not refundable.
There is no Application Fee if you wish to upgrade your membership.

PRO RATA SUBSCRIPTIONS FOR NEW MEMBERS

The first annual subscription will become due when you receive acknowledgment of your membership status.

A Certificate of Membership will not be sent to the applicant until such time as we receive this payment. The pro rata amount payable will be as detailed below:

Admitted before 30th April – Full Annual Subscription
Admitted between 1st May & 31st August – One Half of Annual Subscription
Admitted between 1st September & 30th November – One Quarter of Annual Subscription
Admitted after 1st December 2019 – the following year’s annual Subscription will be paid

TAX RELIEF

The Institute has been approved by the Board of the Inland Revenue, under Section 201, Income and Corporation Taxes Act 1988 for members whose Tax affairs are dealt with in the UK to obtain Income Tax Relief on their Subscriptions.

Submission Checklist

To avoid any delay being incurred with the processing of your application please ensure the following:-

  1. All sections of the application form have been completed in full and the application form is signed and dated
  2. You have nominated 2 referees, one of which is a current IExpE member, and included their email addresses
  3. You have included full documentary evidence in support of your training,
    qualifications and competencies, together with an up to date copy of your CV.
  4. The non refundable application fee in the sum of £70.00 is enclosed. (FREE for an upgrade/transfer)
  5. Up-to-date photo identification is required, this can be in the form of driving licence or passport.

Military Checklist

To avoid any delay being incurred with the processing of your application please ensure the following:-

  2. The application form has been signed off by your current Commanding Officer, with your unit stamp endorsed
  3. You have included full documentary evidence in support of your training, qualifications and competencies, together with an up to date copy of your CV
  4. The non refundable application fee in the sum of £70.00 is enclosed (FREE for an upgrade/transfer)
  5. Up-to-date photo identification is required, this can be in the form of driving licence or passport.
