JSaRC Update – 19 December 2018 – Security and Policing 2019 Focus

Following a very busy few months of events, meetings and conferences, the planning for Security and Policing is now well underway. This week’s JSaRC update is focussed on the show, and aims to provide an overview of the many features, keynotes and initiatives planned for the event. Taking place in Farnborough from 5-7 March, the 2019 event aims to provide visitors, exhibitors and Government with a platform to further develop engagement with the security industry, in both the UK and internationally.

2019 Features

Market Place – Brand new to Security & Policing 2019 is the opportunity for visitors to learn about all the best and emerging ideas and capabilities in our ‘Market Place’ feature. Over the three days there will be opportunities to see and hear about new products, developments and innovation from the UK securing and policing arena. Further information can be found here

Live Demonstration Arena – Back by popular demand, our live arena will provide the backdrop for collaboration with partner organisations to showcase techniques, skills and approaches across a range of Critical Incident Response scenarios. Further information can be found here

Immersive Demonstrations – Another first for Security & Policing, in 2019 visitors will have access to three exciting immersive features. Each feature will provide visitors with the opportunity to see first-hand how the use of technology, innovation and products can potentially improve security and critical response times in the areas of prison visitor verification, CBRN incidents and Digital Innovation. Government and Networking Zone – All new for 2019, is our Government and Demonstration Zone. The newly designed and larger space will provide visitors with the opportunity to meet and engage with a wide range of Government agencies and hear more about current programmes and initiatives. Organisations such as DASA, DIT Defence and Security, CT Policing, FCO Services and JSaRC will be participating in this area.  Further information is available here

Keynote Briefings and VIPs

In 2019, The Home Secretary and the Minister for Security and Economic Crime will lead an exciting conference and briefing programme. Themes will include Protecting the Public, Protecting the Protector and No Safe Place to Hide. An overview of the briefing sessions can be found here

The JSaRC team has a really unique structure, roughly 50% of the team are civil servants, and the rest of the team is made up of staff seconded from industry and academia. Our current secondees originate from organisations such as Thales, Airbus, BAE Systems, Hart International, ADS, Aecom, Intel, QinetiQ, Civica, Secure Cloud+, Chapel Associates, Sopra Steria and the University of Kent.
