Dangerous Goods in Harbour Area Regulations 2016 and amendments to the Explosives Regulations 2014

A note to remind those members who have involvement with explosives in harbour areas that on the 1st October, the Dangerous Substances in Harbour Area Regulation 1987 are revoked. These are replaced by the Dangerous Goods in Harbour Area Regulations 2016 [Statutory Instrument 2016/721].

Within the consequential amendments in these 2016 regulations are two minor amendments to the Explosives Regulations 2014.  For members who keep their legislation copies up to date these two amendments are

In Regulation 2, Interpretation, at paragraph (7) please replace the words “regulation 36(1) of the Dangerous Substances in Harbour Areas Regulations 1987.” with “regulation 17 of the Dangerous Goods in Harbour Areas Regulations 2016”

In Regulation 3, Application and extent, at paragraph (8)(a) also replace the words “Part IX of the Dangerous Substances in Harbour Areas Regulations 1987 (explosives)” with “Part 5 of the Dangerous Goods in Harbour Areas Regulations 2016”
