Call for Abstracts
Cranfield University is hosting the 2018 Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (OME) Symposium, on behalf of the Sector Skills Strategy Group (SSSG) of the explosives industry.
We have the pleasure of inviting you to contribute by presenting on:

Manufacture, Support and Disposal

With an increasing trend towards leaner, just in time manufacturing, stock reduction, and efficient turnaround of inventory, the 2018 OME Symposium will explore how suppliers are meeting their customers’ needs, and how customers monitor their stock in accordance with supplier’s recommendations.

The 2018 OME Symposium will explore how suppliers meet their customer’s and end user needs, how the stock is monitored through life to ensure it remains fit for purpose. The 2018 OME Symposium will delve into all parts of the OME life cycle through to timely disposal. Topics of interest may include, but not exclusively:

·    Skills in manufacturing

·    Manufacturing technologies & techniques

·    Getting products into service quicker

·    Faster recuperation

·    Supply chain resilience

·    Costs of keeping products in service, and longer (life extension)

·    Reducing cost of ownership

·    In service surveillance

·    Obsolescence & disposal

·    Storage & transportation

·    Stockpile management

·    Platform integration

·    Requirements of the services – the perspectives of the Front-Line Commands

If you wish to submit an abstract on the topics listed above, or on a topic that you consider is also relevant to the overall theme, please email your abstract of around 200 words to by Friday 25th May 2018. Papers should be planned to take 20 minutes to present, followed by 10 minutes for questions. Acceptance of papers will be notified at the beginning of July
