  • A member, in his responsibility to his Employer, his employees and to the profession, shall have full regard to the public interest, with particular regard to the law.
  • A member shall discharge his professional responsibilities with integrity, particularly with regard to safeguarding information and materials of value to criminals and others less well intentioned than the member.
  • A member shall not maliciously or recklessly injure or attempt to injure, whether directly or indirectly, the professional reputation, prospects or business of another Explosives Engineer.
  • A member shall not improperly canvass or solicit professional employment nor offer to make by way of commission or otherwise payment for the introduction of such employment.
  • A member shall not, in self-laudatory language or in any manner derogatory to the dignity of the profession, advertise or write articles for publication, nor shall he authorise such advertisements to be written or published by any other person.
  • A member shall not use the advantages of a salaried position or advantages of a position on Council to compete unfairly with other Explosives Engineers.
  • A member in connection with work in a country other than his own shall order his conduct according to these Rules, so far as they are applicable; but where there are also local recognised standards of professional conduct, he shall adhere to whichever is the more stringent.
  • A member who is convicted by a competent tribunal of a criminal offence which, in the opinion of the Council, renders him unfit to be a member or which brings the Institute of Explosives Engineers into disrepute shall be deemed to have been guilty of improper conduct.
  • A member shall not, directly or indirectly, attempt to supplant another Explosives Engineer, nor shall he intervene or attempt to intervene in or in connection with explosives engineering work of any kind which to his knowledge has already been entrusted to another Explosives Engineer unless he considers that unsafe practices are being followed, in which case it is his duty to raise those concerns with the Explosives Engineer concerned.
  • A member shall afford such assistance as he may reasonably be able to give to further the Education and Training of candidates for the Profession of Explosives Engineering.
  • A member shall follow these guiding principles of the Engineering Council:
